Eggon João da Silva, Werner Ricardo Voigt, and Geraldo Werninghaus founded WEG or Werner Ricardo Voigt on September 16th, 1961. The name of the company represents the initials of the pioneers. It is credited as the largest manufacturer of electric motors in Latin America.WEG is based at Brazil and started the journey with productions of electric motors. The manufacturing units are situated in countries like South Africa, India, China United States, Germany, and commercialization & distribution units in India, Russia Singapore, Japan, and United Arab Emirates.

Slowly with passage of time they ventured into insulating varnishes, liquid and powdered paints, control panels, generators, motors and production of electronic modules. It wants to project itself not only as a mere manufacturer of electric motors but also complete the industrial electrical system.
